People come here on purpose or just drop by for 3 things:
The beautiful views of the Talugtug countryside.
Fresh air that lets you release all your troubles away.
They’ve come to collect ‘Kulibangbang’ leaves
from the trees that abound on the hills.
Kulibangbang translated literally is ‘butterfly’,
so called by the locals because of its resemblace with the butterfly.
The locals use it for a dish called ‘pinapaitan’
which is a famous Ilocano dish.
If you are a culture vulture and are not too fussy about food,
you can ask the locals to prepare some for you.
If you keep driving along this road from Talugtug,
you will soon find yourself in the town of Umingan, Pangasinan.
The roads are paved to national highway standards
which will sooner or later will make this piece of country
very busy with travellers.
Soak in some countryside spirit while its still at its most ‘untouched’ state.
If you are one for a short joyride,
you can start from Talugtug then drive til Umingan
which will take less than 2 hours one way.
The views along this stretch are breathtaking if you are a nature lover.
We were told by our guide that the mountains in the horizon
are that of the Cordillera Mountain Range. Some of the highest peaks belong to Baguio City.
