These little girls have come to meet the North Sea fishing boats.
They know that this is how to get the best and cheapest fish.
They are dressed in the costume Arnemuiden-
linen caps, chequered outer skirts, and wooden shoes (clogs).

The Nile enters the sea here
through a lagoon on whose shores these children are playing.
The two boys have made a boat
and are fitting it with a sail.
Their sisters look on with interest.
