South Wales (Welsh: De Cymru) is a loosely defined region of Wales bordered by England and the Bristol Channel to the east and south. It has a population of around 2.2 million, almost three-quarters of the whole of Wales, including 400,000 in Cardiff, 250,000 in Swansea and 150,000 in Newport. Generally considered to include the historic counties of Glamorgan and Monmouthshire, South Wales extends westwards to include Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire. In the western extent, from Swansea westwards, local people would probably recognise that they lived in both south Wales and west Wales.^[1] The Brecon Beacons National Park covers about a third of South Wales, containing Pen y Fan, the highest British mountain south of Cadair Idris in Snowdonia.

Cardiff Bay is so beautiful at night. This is Cardiff Nightlife at its best.

Perhaps the selling point of Voco St. David’s Hotel & Spa is its central location to all touristy digs in Cardiff Bay and of course the views–its all about the views.

All those establishments by the waterfront are mostly restaurants, bars, and they have also cinemas nearby. You don’t have to drive from the hotel, you can just wander around by foot. That means you can enjoy the nightlife and have your alcohol too. Treat yourself, you are here to forget about England lol. Have fun and de-stress! Enjoy Welsh hospitality while it last for after a few days you’re back in the madness of the english ratrace lol.

Be careful for going for your dreams, because they do come at a price. Sometimes when you do lose your head, and you will lose your head, its just a matter of when and how soon you recover from it lol— you need a slower pace of life when you can be human once again.

Perhaps that is why Wales is appealing. It provides a respite, or sort of an escape from the madness of England when it comes to you in all directions–HMRC, Companies House, solicitors, competitors, enemies (you don’t have to admit ok haha), colleagues, frenemies, etc. etc.

WALES means FREEDOM without having to go through border control. CHILL!

WOW, no need to actually go to the restaurants. Just order a takeaway and chill with a bottle of wine by the hotel balcony. When you are feeling sleepy, just crawl to bed. Just make sure you don’t get too close to the balcony’s edge because you will find yourself saying hi to little mermaid or rather Ursula lol.

We could stare at this view forever. Sweet Life!

Ok, we did go to to dine in the restaurant downstairs, a bit pricey but its better compared to walking outside in the chill looking for a takeaway. You’re allowed to be lazy once in a while. Don’t just make laziness a habit. It’s bad for your personal economy, and for your business too lol.

That’s a T-bone Steak served with what? Chips, fries, or potato blocks lol. We love the chef’s creativity in this one. Another reason to charge extra:)

Full English Breakfast (or perhaps Welsh) with all the continental servings too. That’s like double breakfast then lol. Yes because its a day of exploring Brecon Beacons National Park. If you’re deep in the mountains, you can’t expect your usual KFCs, McDonald’s, and Burger King’s there do you? Good Luck if you find one. So load up with your breakfast and carry some extra snacks. You’ll thank us for it later.

A quick stop at a local supermarket for some supplies.

BRECON BEACONS NATIONAL PARK

The Brecon Beacons are a mountain range in South Wales. In a narrow sense, the name refers to the range of Old Red Sandstone peaks which lie to the south of Brecon. Sometimes referred to as “the central Beacons” they include South Wales’ highest mountain, Pen y Fan. The range forms the central section of the Brecon Beacons National Park (Parc Cenedlaethol Bannau Brycheiniog), a designation which also encompasses ranges both to the east and the west of “the central Beacons”. This much wider area is also commonly referred to as “the Brecon Beacons”, and it includes the Black Mountains to the east as well as the similarly named but quite distinct Black Mountain to the west. The highest peaks include Fan Brycheiniog to the west and Pen y Fan in the central part. They share the same basic geology as the central range, and so exhibit many similar features, such as the north-facing escarpment and glacial features such as lakes and cwms (cirques) below the escarpment. They all fall within the border of the national park.
