Born on October 22nd, 1903, in New York City,

Constance Bennett was educated at private schools,

where she distinguished herself on the athletic side.

Her father, Richard Bennett, was a famous stage actor,

and Constance found the society life prescribed for her very empty.

At the age of seventeen she began her film career in

“Cytherea”,

her youth and sophisticated poise winning her immediate success.

She appeared in nine films in twelve months.

For four years marriage kept her from the screen,

then she returned to sign a contract with Hal Roach,

under which she has appeared in

“Topper”

and

“Merrily We Live”.

Her hobbies are the collecting of jade and old prints.
