As “Queen Christina”

Greta Garbo has made a triumphant return to the screen,

from which she had been absent for over a year.

Greta Gustafson– her real name-

made her first film as an anonymous hat model

in an advertising film.

She had already appeared on the stage

when she received a part in a comedy

and attracted the attention of Mauritz Stiller,

Sweden’s most famous director,

who changed her name to Garbo,

and by her performance in

“The Atonement of Gosta Berling”

gained for both of them a Hollywood contract.

Her first American role was in

“The Torrent”,

and she was an immediate success.

To the talking picture she contributed

a husky vibrant voice

that brought her new triumphs in

“Anna Christie”
