Merle Oberon in 
“The Private Life of Henry VIII” 
(London Film Productions)
She was born in 1911 in Tasmania, of Irish descent.
Was taken to Calcutta at the age of seven.
Educated in Paris.
Appeared in amateur theatricals while in India, 
but otherwise had done no acting
until she was given a small part in
“Service for Ladies”.
Alexander Korda gave her a contract
with London Film Productions, 
and her first leading part was in
“Wedding Rehearsal”.
 
 
 Her performance as Anne Boleyn in 
“The Private Life of Henry VIII”
was hailed as outstanding, 
and Hollywood made offers for her services. 
She appears in “The Battle”
and opposite Douglas Fairbanks in
“The Private Life of Don Juan”
 
Miss Oberon is 5 ft. 4 in. tall.
