Oval Plate / Platter Serving Dish

Reminiscent of the Middling Class

of Henry VIII’s Tudor England

DETAILS:

Merasurements:
12 inches X 9.5 inches

During the later reign of Henry VIII (Tudor Monarch),
due to the economic boom of London,
rising up from its Medieval shadows-
it became fashionable for the middling classes
to now dine on Pewter and Green Glazed Earthenware
as opposed to wooden utensils.
They have now started displaying their plates and wares
on cupboards perhaps to embrace their
newfound economic status.

This plate was not manufactured during the
reign of Henry VIII as the manufacturer’s marks
suggests they have only been on operation from the
latter part of the 19th Century.
