Oval Black Glass

Floral Painted Brooch

18 K GOLD LEAF Frame

This is a VICTORIAN / VICTORIAN REVIVAL Brooch
with a Colourful Florals Centrepiece set on
an OVAL GLASS relief.

The GOLD FRAME tested for 18K.
It is unmarked / unsigned.

The bold BLACK Glass symbolises that this is
a mourning jewellery which is popularised during the Victorian Period
due in fact to Queen Victoria’s choice of dressing in¬†HEAVY BLACK
to mourn the loss of her beloved PRINCE ALBERT.

The Victorians are fond of symbolism
and colour choices as well as choice of flowers
carry a significant weight on them.

One striking thing about this brooch
is how the Yellow Rose was emphasised
which in THE LANGUAGE OF FLOWERS
means JEALOUSY / INFIDELITY / DECREASED LOVE.

It is possible then the wearer of this brooch
may carry with her the grief of having an
INFIDEL Husband / Partner
while may not officially deceased.

Some CONSOLATION for faithful women
living with unfaithful partners.

STAY STRONG!
QUEEN VICTORIA mourned for a long time
as a wife while at the same reigning as the Glorious Queen
of the BRITISH EMPIRE.
Much Inspiration can be drawn from her.
