WHO IS THE GREEK POSEIDON?

Poseidon is a Greek god in mythology

who was considered the ruler of the sea, earthquakes, and horses.

He was often depicted as a strong and muscular man with a long beard,

holding a trident in his hand,

and riding a chariot pulled by horses.

Poseidon was one of the twelve Olympian gods in Greek mythology,

along with Zeus, Hera, Demeter, Athena, Apollo,

Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Hermes, and Dionysus.

He was also the brother of Zeus and Hades,

and the father of numerous children,

including the sea-goddess Amphitrite and the hero Theseus.

Poseidon was a powerful and revered figure in ancient Greek religion

and was often worshipped by seafarers, fishermen, and sailors.

WHO IS THE GREEK DAPHNE?

In Greek mythology, Daphne was a nymph

and a daughter of the river god Peneus.

She was known for her beauty and her love for nature.

According to the myth, Daphne was pursued by the god Apollo,

who was struck by one of Cupid’s arrows

and fell in love with her.

However, Daphne was not interested in Apollo and ran away from him.

Apollo chased her through the forest,

and as Daphne was about to be caught,

she prayed to her father to save her.

Peneus then transformed her into a laurel tree,

and Apollo, unable to win her love,

vowed to make the laurel his sacred tree

and wear its leaves as a symbol of his victory.

In Greek mythology,

the laurel became a symbol of victory and honour,

and wreaths made of laurel leaves

were given to winners of athletic and poetic contests,

as well as to heroes and emperors.
