GIANT BIRD OF PARADISE
STRELITZIA NICOLAI

IT’S NOT A BANANA!

This exotic looking perennial is actually a relative

of the well-known orange and blue flowered bird-of-paradise plant.

Named in honour of Czar Nicholas of Russia,

it comes from South Africa where it grows to 10m (30ft.) high.

Its flowers are white with blue or purple bracts

and resemble the head of a white bird with a blue beak.
