At the time of this post, Taal Volcano is causing havoc in Tagaytay,
and neighbouring towns and provinces.
This post is a heartfelt tribute the beautiful City Paradise because Tagaytay
was a sanctuary once during a mini mental breakdown.
In giving back to this homely city,
we want to highlight how it was before the Taal calamity.
For us, Tagaytay is like a second home when away from UK.
The climate is tropical but very ideal and colder as it is in the highlands.
Think British Summertime🙂
Baguio City also shares the same beautiful climate,
but we prefer to destress in Tagaytay as it is more laidback,
and you really get reinvigorated by the lakeside views,
you can’t really put a price on that.
Think of Tagaytay as the inflated version of Camp John Hay
or Baguio Country Club, sweet:)
There is some sort of therapy you get when you soak the Spirit of the Lake.
There is healing power being around water,
this perhaps explains why real estate properties
near the water have a premium attached to them.
It is like a ‘salus per aquae’ (SPA) for the soul.
So to say that Tagaytay is gone, we don’t agree.
This is just temporary, like life, it has its own seasons.
Tagaytay will always be a paradise
because BEAUTY IS ETERNAL.
BULALO IN TAGAYTAY
When you’re in Tagaytay, you can’t afford to miss the famous BULALO.
It is beef on bones slow cooked for hours
so you end up getting that beautiful beef broth plus tender meat
almost falling off the bones.
HACK: If You live in the City and don’t have the ideal
TRADITIONAL SLOW COOKING OVER FIRE WOOD & CHARCOALS,
You can get the same slow-cooked goodness from HOME…
Just prepare your Meat before going to work
and put on the slowcooker on and oala,
SLOW COOKED GOODNESS waiting to give you a warm hug
when you arrive home:)
If your bulalo requires fangs in order to eat it,
then we guess thats an EPIC BULALO FAIL lol.
You’ll never regret it,
you can forget everything you’ve eaten in Tagaytay but not that one lol…
Of course this pineapple is a reminder that Tagaytay is also famous for Pineapples.
If you haven’t seen pineapples in fruit form before,
no that is not how a normal pineapple looks like lol.
This one is a work of withcraft haha.
If you are into pineapples,
you’ve got to try some of these.
Sweet and juicy.
You don’t need anything extra to enjoy this.
With the pineapples you get in UK,
you probably need some dipping salt
or some cooking in oven then make it into a pudding lol.
Pineapples here are best enjoyed fresh.
Tagaytay restaurants are famous for outdoor dining experience.
If you are not in a hurry, you’ve got to dine in one of these huts.
Fresh is best.
As usual, we are always in a hurry as we want to visit lots of places here
before our time is up:)
Those furnitures look chilled, furniture crush I guess…
What about the mangoes?
If you drive further south Cavite and Batangas,
you can buy sackloads of them, seriously.
During summer, you can see roadside stalls offering these by the sackload.
But because you’re rich, that’s a truckload for you haha.
Next Stop, Tagaytay Starbucks.
Domicillo Design Hotel,
Km. 58 General Emilio Aguinaldo Highway,
Maharlika East, Tagaytay City
Not that they have the coffee we want,
but the view that we want.
This Starbucks has probably the best views in all of Luzon
and without any doubt, the whole of UK.
Hands down to whoever scouted their site.
Call it USP, not for coffee but for killer views.
Another thing, when you travel with a lawyer,
these species don’t drink water lol–
its either milk tea or coffee haha.
If you’re used to Western Hot teas and coffees,
sorry, those are second-class beverages here.
In the land of the tropics its all about iced teas and iced coffees.
Well during SUMMER anyway…
As for me, hot coffee ALL DAY LONG
NO MATTER THE SEASON…
That’s a beautiful piece of real estate down there.
Only problem is you’ve got to share your privacy with the whole of Starbucks gang.
Perhaps the residents don’t mind.
Or perhaps that’s part of the property where Starbucks is sitting at.
Hey don’t get into that sort of business again, we’re on holiday lol…
TAGAYTAY PICNIC GROVE
Tagaytay Picnic Grove is perhaps
Tagaytay’s answer to Baguio’s Mines View Park.
So you’re not actually losing out on the views here.
Tagaytay Picnic Grove Complex,
Tagaytay, Cavite, Philippines
If you check on the maps,
you will notice that it sits on the ridge of Tagaytay
so you’ve got sweeping views of the lake and the land further ashore.
Picnic Grove is famous for its views, zipline,
boardwalk and of course PICNIC!
If you are planning to spend the day here,
make sure you bring your pack lunch or cooking stuff
as this is how you can enjoy this place.
You’d have to have physical cash with you
as you will need to pay for Entrance,
charged per head and per vehicle.
You would also need to pay for the cottage or huts that you will occupy.
There are also lots of souvenir shops and vendors walking around the place.
Sorry they don’t accept VISA or MASTERCARD so save your heartaches–
we told you you need cash lol.
CASH IS KING- Literally!
Have a nice Day!
Lovely walk, can we have more of these?
We hate to disappoint you that this boardwalk is even short of a mile.
If you are used to walking in UK, US, Japan, etc. to enjoy the views,
here in the Philippines you’ve got none of that.
Public Walking or Hiking Trails are not yet as well-embraced here
compared to its Western and Japanese counterparts.
However, the Philippines is now starting to really promote its Tourism-
‘It’s More Fun In The Philippines’
and as a result you can now enjoy far flung areas
with the help of a tour guide and Packaged Tour Deals.
If you’re a bit of a social animal,
you’ll probably get more bang for your buck with Packaged Tours
but if you’re as aloof as a vampire like yours truly,
then a Do-It-Yourself is the answer to your social nightmares haha.
Tourists just can’t get enough of these fresh fruits.
These type of fruit stalls abound along the highway in Tagaytay
and if you’re dying to get your hands on some,
just pull the car over.
You won’t get any parking ticket, or so they say.
None of that UK s*** here lol. Chill!
