THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
by KATHLEEN PARTRIDGE

CLIMBING
I like the hilly countryside, the valley and the rise.
The obstacles to overcome, the vistas to surprise.
I like the ups and downs of life,
flat fields are not for me,
I like the pull of climbing up, the risk, the mystery.

The difficulties to be bridged,
the unknown slope and bend,
I like the byways though I know not what is at the end.
For there is interest indeed and problems all the time,
Some variation in the view, achievement in the climb.
