CREATIVE BRICKWORK

Who can honestly place their hand on their heart
and say that they have never played with Lego?

The Harrods Lego exhibit,
held recently in the Toy Kingdom
attracted parents and children alike to view a Lego masterpiece
on an enormous scale.
Covering approximately 350 square metres,
more than 130,000 bricks were used
to build the extraordinary scenes.
Each scene depicted moments in the lives of the explorers,
sailors, discoverers and great adventurers who made history.

The spectacular centrepiece of the exhibit
was an exotic Oriental Palace,
complete with dancing girls,
moving magic flying carpets and a fountain spouting real water.

Running in conjunction with the exhibit
in the Harrods Lego challenge 1988,
a chance for young and old to create their own Lego exhibit,
using any aspect of Harrods as inspiration.
The grand prize is a trip to Legoland in Denmark for four people.
And with age groups ranging from under seven to 50 plus,
everyone is in with a chance.
The qualifying finalists’ creations will be on display
in the Store during September,
and will be judged by a panel from Harrods and Lego,
as well as a very special judge,
Chris Tarrant from Capital Radio.
